The Claim:

“Using a poultry roaster on the EGG will produce the juiciest, most flavorful poultry you’ve ever tasted! The chrome-plated steel Vertical Roasters will hold a chicken or turkey upright during cooking for even browning and easier carving when done.”

Product Information:
The Big Green Egg Vertical Chicken Roaster is made of stainless steel, and measures about 8″ inches tall. The bottom ring is 5.5″ in diameter; the top ring is 1.25″ in diameter. It will fit all sizes Eggs, except the Mini. The Vertical Chicken Roaster is dishwasher safe, which makes clean up a breeze.

Why I Bought My Big Green Egg Vertical Chicken Roaster:
This is not the multi-functional “swiss army knife” of accessories. The Vertical Chicken Roaster serves exactly one purpose, and it does it extremely well; it helps make really good grilled chicken. After a few semi-successful roasted chickens, I made the plunge and bought my Vertical Chicken Roaster. Needless to say, I haven’t looked back.

What’s Good About The Vertical Chicken Roaster:
Simple, straight forward, and to the point. This product is all of those things and doesn’t claim to do anything else. The Vertical Chicken Roaster makes it ridiculously easy to grill the perfect chicken for your family and friends. “The Claim” is right on the money in this case, and I’ve been grilling some of the most amazing chicken of my life using the Vertical Chicken Roaster.

As I said earlier, the Vertical Chicken Roaster is stainless steel. This means it will last basically forever (it is a well built product), and it is dishwasher safe. I’m happy to say this is another accessory I will have with me for a very, very long time.

What’s Not So Good About The Vertical Chicken Roaster:
While the Big Green Egg Vertical Chicken Roaster does help me produce really great chicken, there are some drawbacks. First, it only does the one thing. If I don’t want to grill chicken, the accessory is useless. Compare this to the Plate Setter, a model in versatility. Second, the Vertical Chicken Roaster is a slightly awkward shape that may make it difficult to store. For me, this is not an issue (my accessories have a special place in the garage). But if you are low on cabinet space, consider the awkward shape.

The biggest “drawback” for me is that I no longer cook chicken any other way! I have tried spatchcocking a chicken, but the results I get from the Vertical Chicken Roaster are too good to pass up.
