“Our dual purpose porcelain coated V-Racks can be used upright to hold roasts and poultry or can be flipped over to serve as an efficient rib rack.”
The Big Green Egg V-Rib Rack is made of porecelain coated steel, measures 15x10x4 inches, and weighs 2 pounds. This rib rack allows you to smoke 6 racks of ribs at once on your BGE. If you flip the rack over, it can be used as a tray for roasts.
Why I Bought My Big Green Egg V-Rib Rack:
There’s really one reason to buy a rib rack; to smoke ribs! Even though you can fit 2 whole racks on a Large BGE without a rib rack, having this V-Rib Rack lets me smoke 7 racks at once. Since I like to have backyard barbecues with my friends, the Big Green Egg V-Rib Rack makes it easy to cook enough food for everyone.
As an added bonus, I can flip the V-Rib Rack over and cook a roast.
What’s Good About The Big Green Egg V-Rib Rack:
While it is a simple product, I am very impressed with the quality of construction. Porcelain coated steel means superior durability and rust protection. I am fairly certain this is the only and last rib rack I will ever need to buy. It is easy to clean as well; just a wire brush or scrub pad does the trick.
The V-Rib Rack forces you to cook your ribs vertically. While I have no scientific evidence, my ribs seem to come out brilliantly when cooked vertically.
What’s Not So Good About The Big Green Egg V-Rib Rack:
At a height of only 4″ this rib rack will have trouble holding on to anything but baby backs. A country style beef rib will be too tall, and end up falling out of the rack. If you only grill baby backs you have nothing to worry about, but if you grill taller ribs this may not be the right rack for you.
